Bractullo is our main venue during the winter months. It boasts a large indoor arena, a brand new outdoor all-weather arena and ample parking. 

This venue is perfect for dressage and all types of jumping lessons.

Bogside Equestrian

Bogside Farm, Forfar, Angus, DD8 3TJ

This is our newest venue and home to most of our summer leagues. Bogside has a beautiful 45m x 25m outdoor school and spacious grass arenas for all your training needs. Located just off the A90, it is in a perfect location. 

Bogside is also where all committee meetings are held. 

Auchlishie Eventing

Auchlishie Eventing, Kirriemuir, Angus, DD8 4LS

Auchlishie is well known for its BE cross-country course which has a hacking route, a 60m x 45m outdoor all-weather school and a 46m x 21m indoor school. 

Auchlishie is where most of our Residential Riding Club Camps are held as there are temporary stables, a bunkhouse and plenty lorry parking at the venue. 

Bridgeton

Bridgeton has a beautifully large 60m x 25m outdoor school with various show jumps and natural fences. 

We have a lot of outside instructors that come to Bridgeton which always makes for exciting and interesting lessons.

 

West Drums

West Drums Livery, Brechin, Angus, DD9 6ST

West Drums is one of our club's summer venues. 

It boasts a spacious grass arena, a large outdoor all-weather arena and a compact indoor school. 

We usually have our Working Hunter shows here during the summer.

 

 Our Instructors

Here are our wonderful and knowledgeable instructors. We do have visiting instructors for clinics as well.

 Hamish Cameron

Hamish has been a qualified BHS instructor for over 30 years and has been teaching at SDRC for the last 25 years.  As a freelance coach, he has worked throughout Scotland and in 2006 he was awarded the Farney Grange Trophy for Most Popular Instructor.  His clients include riders who have competed at 1*Blair, HOYS and the BD National Championships.  He has competed with his homebred ponies and has won at the Royal Highland Show and Blair Atholl. He also has competed in dressage (up to Elementary), ODE’s and WH competitions.

Andi Bruce

Andi is happy to coach a variety of riders from beginners up to career/competition and horses from backing to Medium level. She particularly enjoys specialising in building confidence in horse/rider combinations more from the grassroots to beginning of their competitive careers than those competing at higher levels.

She also regularly coaches for Pony Club and Riding Clubs and is also a senior county coach and assessor for the RDA.

Andrew Hamilton

Andrew Hamilton is a UKCC Level 3 British Showjumping coach based in Scotland, renowned for training young horses and riders. Operating from his own base, he is a former professional rider with extensive experience in the Scottish equestrian scene. He also operates as a successful racehorse trainer. 

 Diana Zadja

Diana Zajda is a qualified BHSI, UKCC3, BDCC3 and a BD List 3 dressage judge.  She has previously been a BHS examiner and assessed SVQ levels for equestrian students.She has evented to 3* level and competed at PSG dressage.  She has vast experience backing and bringing on youngsters and is happy to train riders of all levels, whether novice or the more advanced who want to be competitive.  

David Gatherer

David has ridden at 4 star-level and competed in major competitions such as Chatsworth, Blair Castle and Bramham International. Equally talented in the discipline of dressage, he has ridden at Prix St George level. As a British Eventing (BE) Accredited Coach with over 30-years of experience, David’s expertise and enthusiasm have helped clients ranging from Pony Club members and riders competing in BE’s Junior Regional Novice series, to Team GBR’s young rider squad.

Gregor Knox

Gregor Knox is a talented event rider and UKCC level 2 coach. As a rider he has competed his own and owners horses at 2* level and 1.20m showjumping, he is also very talented in training breakers and young horses. Through his practical approach to coaching he trains all levels of horses and riders with an ethos of building confidence in the partnership to achieve their goals and aspirations.

 Jane Gilchrist

Jane is a coach educator, Pony Club Accredited visiting instructor and B test examiner who works freelance. Having successfully competed at International competitions in showjumping, eventing and dressage,  she now teaches as a BHSII to all levels and abilities in these disciplines with a specialist interest in young horses.

Shonagh Stark

Shonagh is a registered BHSII. She has been a freelance coach in Tayside for 20 years. In her early professional days she won awards for coaching and was recognised as a young achiever. She has been fortunate to have trained regularly under the watchful eyes of some equestrian greats including Carl Hester, William Fox-Pitt, Ernest Dillon and William Micklem. She also competes at affilaited dressage.

Jane Smith

Jane is a BHSII (reg). She has evented to intermediate 2* level, showjumped to 1.30 and dressage at medium level. Previously a working hunter specialist having been Champion at BSPS summer champs and Royal Highland Show. She is also a Pony Club B test assessor and enjoys helping riders to get the most out of their horses.

 Toni Graham

Toni has been a qualified riding coach for over 30 years. After qualifying as a coach and spending several years at home with her small livery yard and bringing on young horses. Since returning she is now focused on coaching & schooling clients horses more than competing. Her coaching aims are that her clients and their horses relax & enjoy themselves. Working to improve confidence, relaxation, balance, suppleness & strength. Resulting in a better harmony between horse & rider.

Julie Speirs

Train with Julie Spiers, a BHSAI APC registered instructor, who enjoys teaching riders of all levels and ages; beginners, happy hackers, dressage riders, showjumping enthusiasts and eventers. She teaches at Pony Club and riding club on a regular basis, as well as holding flatwork, polework and jump clinics. Her focus is on having fun, helping riders to gain confidence and improve their skills, and to build partnerships between the horse and rider.
